Let's talk about what it is to be a man. This is something I never really figured out till much later in my life and it was never really talked about in my family. These are opinions and insights from a very ignorant man. Im as prideful and selfish as they come, and only by the grace of Jesus can I be anything better.
Being a man is something that has a stereo type around it that is as generalized as any stereo type. Men aren't supposed to show there feelings, men aren't supposed to like certain things that might be considered feminine, men are expected to like certain activities, and if your good at them you earn respect from other guys you might consider to be men.
We as men have a massive ego. We feed off other people making us feel like we are men, this requires attention from many things, Jobs, relationships, marriages, and families. This ego is just another word for our flesh, our sinful desires. Men these days walk in this, we view woman as objects just to feed our pride and lust. Their bodies are beautiful but we drench them in sexuality and call that attractive. There companionship is really for ourselves because we don't want to be lonely, and well do thoughtful things but its really just to hear how sweet and cute we are so we feel good. All the things I just described are qualities of a boy, an immature child who hasn't grown up enough to see the foolishness of his actions. These are harsh words, but I can say them because Ive been there before and am in the process of maturing still.
So what is a man? A man, and I mean a real man will pursue Jesus like nothing else matters because nothing else does. He's quiet in his peace and puts others before himself daily. He's a prayer warrior, who will actually pray for you when he says he will. He's a lover of the word, for he knows there is truth and wisdom within its pages. He watches in the night for his creator, his true love, He stores up oil for his saviors return by worshiping and weeping in a secret place only him and Jesus share. He is completely and ultimately satisfied in christ. He loves his family well and lays down his life for his friends. He is a man of honor and truth. His words hold meaning because he is wise in there choosing. He views Jesus as the ultimate man, and strives to become more like him everyday. He views each an every woman he meets as a precious gift from God, a daughter of the king, a pearl that can never be earned or matched in its beauty. He is faithful to his wife even if he never gets married, knowing each an every time he undresses a girl in his mind he's committed adultery. He's chipping away bit by bit at a beautiful statue that is meant to be saved for marriage, that statue is the gift of sex which this earth has perverted to no end. Marriage itself is being wrongly viewed, even in the church. In the earth its viewed as something that will conquer loneliness among many other perversions. In the church its being viewed as an escape from sexual impurity and even still, many other perversions. Marriage is completely and solely a gift from God, Its not needed and won't give you any satisfaction outside of christ.
Everything I just mentioned is impossible to walk out by yourself. Trust me, Ive tried. These are truths the Lord calls out in each and every one of us, this is how he sees us. This fact causes us and definitely me to pursue these goals. Jesus looks at me and you, with all our filth and speaks these words over us. Im not a man, if we define that word with the things I mentioned above. I definitely don't act that way all the time, but each day I rise I have a choice. A choice that will define not only that day but the next and the next. I choose to kneel before the throne, spend time in the word, worship, and weep on my fathers shoulder. That is how you walk this out, you give everything up, keeping nothing for yourself. No desires, no needs, no wants. You forsake all other lovers and you waste your life on christ. All is counted as lost, and you view everything God chooses to give you as a gift. This gives you supreme joy, hope, and peace while on this earth.
"In you, Lord my God, I out my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious way; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good. Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his ways. All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant. For the sake of your name, Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it is great. Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? he will instruct them in the ways they should choose. They will spend their days in prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the land. The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare." Psalm 25:1-15
Once again I apologize fro any grammatical errors, I am indeed terrible at writing. I hope that you gained some truth from these words.
